Weekend full of Dodge Ball, Scuba, and HASH.

You would think that on a remote island there would not be much to do except study, go to class, and occasionally hang out on the beach. But it is quite the contrary. Eight of my classmates and I played in a dodgeball tournament this past Friday. Our team name was the feral cats, meow!! Our first game was against a group of all male medical students. Needless to say we lost, but we tryed our hardest! The male species is rare in veterinary medicine and so our team had one guy, to 7 girls. The opposing team had all guys!! So we did not stand much of a chance, expecially since most of our team had never played dodgeball before. But it was fun anyways!! It was halarious also!! There were about 20 teams in total and some teams really got dressed up. Boys wearing tight short shorts, with sweat bands in their hair, socks up to their knees, anything 80's looking. I was very impressed at some of the ingenious and creative designs. I would recommend every school have a dodgeball tournament. It is just too fun to miss out on!!
So the rest of the weekend consisted of Scuba training and a HASH on Saturday afternoon. Nine of my classmates including myself are working on getting our scuba diving certification and we are trying to get all the classes and dives accomplised now so that we will be certified before we all go home for the summer. Vive la Scuba!!! It is so much more time consumming than I ever expected. We always joking that we are really here in Grenada to scuba not for vet school. Totally joking!! It is just extemely time consuming!!
On Saturday morning we took the boat out to Glovers Island and did some real diving as opposed to pool sessions. I got to see a fireworm, lobsters, several gorgeous other aquatic life and even collected a few sand dollars off the ocean floor. We finished up the session and watched our last scuba videos for the certification!!!! Thank God. Then we hopped in the car to make it back to the dorm before my ride to the HASH left. The HASH this time around was in Spring. It was a very short HASH this time around but still loads of fun!! I got the battle wounds on my legs, stomach, chest, and arms to show for it also. The trail was really rough and bushy!!!! Lots of climbing and jumping over fallen trees. Afterwards, I went back up the trail and climbed some rocks with a couple medical student friends. I wish that I had pictures because we were litterally climbing up the surface of a montain with no rope except that which God provided, vines!!! It was great fun!!!! After I got home from the HASH, I helped my roomate get ready for a toga party. She looked so cute!!!, and then I went with a couple of friends to play poker. It was a great weekend!! I Probably had a little too much fun with finals just around the bend, but now I am all set to study (I hope!!!??).
Hope things are going well for everyone in the States and else where. Everyone is getting very ancy about going home. We are all ready to climb onto that plane home to see our loved ones that we miss so much!
Miss you all!!!
